Hello, everyone, my new name is now Mi and it means ‘beautiful’ in Japanese. I’m a 1-year-old female Shiba Inu. I lived with a Labrador and we always got along great. But on the advice of a ‘trainer’ my pawrents put me in a shock collar. If you don’t know why that is real bad, then read the science behind it in my Album. Anyway, when in the front yard, I saw some small dogs walk by and I wanted to greet them but every time I got close I got shocked so I just ran through my electric fence and beat them up! I know how to be scary – I didn’t break skin, but I pounded them pretty good and that’s no fun for anyone! DC SIR knows how to counter my early bad experiences, so they plan to keep me in a home with other dogs & create positive experiences with dogs so that I won’t associate them with pain & punishment.Today when I came into Shiba HQ it was raining so I had to meet all the other dogs in the rain. I first met Katniss, the neutral dog I met the other month during my assessment and my tail went up when I saw her! Soon after I met a lot of other dogs one by one. Some growled at me but the volunteer called them away and rewarded them for coming so I could tell no one here is going to get punished. I did very well with all my meets. DC SIR has cleared me to go to a home with another young Shiba Inu so I’ll have someone to play with in my foster home. We’re going to go out and have fun meeting new people, dogs, and places! My previous owners said they did a lot of body handling with me so I don’t mind being picked up or touched! I love meeting people and run up to strangers when they walk in the room. Everyone here has been giving me yummy treats and they promised to keep rewarding me for all the great behaviors I offer them. DC SIR thinks I am going to make an awesome family member! I’m attentive and would love to learn so I will have a training contract.Mi will be medically and behaviorally assessed for 2 weeks prior to being available for adoption. Email adoption@dcsir.org and tell them that you’d like to adopt Mi!REQUIREMENTS: Force-free training contract. What is force-free training?
