Hi everyone, my name is now Asiago, like the cheese! I was born on October 13, 2025, in a PA puppy mill. They weren’t able to sell my two siblings and me, so an all-breed rescue took me in. Once the rescue adopted my sister to a Shiba savvy adopter, she recommended DC SIR for breed-specific placement. So here I am! Cute as a button and sweet as honey! Two DC SIR volunteers drove all day and through a storm to ensure we got to Shiba HQ right away. We got to meet a lot of friendly dogs and cats. My foster mom was really sad because she was losing Wolfie, one of the founders of DC SIR. My brother and I are the last fosters to meet him before he passed away. We think that makes us pretty special. Our foster mom says we don’t act like we were brought up in a mill. She says we are really people-friendly and not scared of much of anything! Every time our foster mom calls, we come running because we know she has yummy treats and toys for us! I am smaller than my brother and a bit gentler. My brother is bigger and sometimes bullies me and takes my toys, but he isn’t too mean – I like to play rough and show how strong I am. Our bestie is another puppy mix, Aureus! He plays with us all day and shows us how to use the dog door and steal our foster mom’s shoes! Haha! We work really hard to steal those shoes! I don’t make much noise and rarely have accidents, but I do use the puppy pad if I have to potty while in my xpen. I love carrying tiny toys in my mouth, and a bonus is that they squeak. My brother and Aureus play outside a lot. I prefer playing indoors with my toys, but I can have fun for short bursts outside. I hope to find my pawfect forever home soon!
