Avalon is a 9 year old female red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone! My name is now Avalon, but my foster family calls me Ava for short. Avalon is a beach in Sydney, Australia. I am a 9-year-old female and one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, all of the dogs were interested in me, especially because I was really good at communicating my boundaries and very good with body handing. The volunteers noticed how well-behaved I was, so they didn’t even put a harness on me to help with catching or ID'ing. I’m kinda like the Queen B. I got along with all the dogs and even the cats at the house. I learned the dog door very fast and helped the other dogs learn the ropes of the house. When my foster family arrived, they had no trouble picking me up, and I put my paws on their laps to tell them I wanted pets. I LOVE pets, scritches, and gentle strokes of my fur. I sat on my foster dad’s lap for the drive to my foster home and relaxed the entire time. At my foster home, I have enjoyed exploring the house and trying out different spots to rest. My foster family says I am very confident, good at communicating, quiet, and super friendly! I am very good at walking on the leash. I was nervous my first night in the foster home and finally relaxed when I could cuddle on the couch with my foster dad. I LOVE to be held and just want to be close. DC SIR thinks I am one of the most well-adjusted Shibas, and believes I can thrive in just about any home. I’m ready to live in a home and be part of a real family. I know there are a lot of popular young dogs, but I hope you can see that I have so much life and love to give, and I hope you will give me a chance. I am grateful that DC SIR rescued me and that I get a chance to find my forever home!
