Bethany is a 3 year old female red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone! My name is now Bethany, but my foster family calls me Bethy and Beth for short. Bethany is a beach in Delaware, and it’s my foster mom’s favorite beach from her childhood. I am a 3-year-old female and one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. My foster parents couldn’t choose between me and my foster sister, Avalon, so they took us both home, and I am so glad they did! I have a BIG personality, but I get along well with the other dogs in my foster home because I know how to share space. My foster mom says that my motto is, “I will find a way or make one,” and it’s true! When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I was so curious about the yard and I went exploring everywhere! I checked out the Zoopharmacognosy garden, walked under the deck, and sniffed everywhere I could! I wasn’t too scared because all my friends were with me, which kind of made me feel brave. While I waited at Shiba HQ for a couple of days, I was in a large Xpen with 4 other Shibas because we all got along really well. But we also got to run around the yard and explore the house in smaller groups. When I arrived at my foster home, I immediately chose a spot where I could relax in the house, and then I dug myself a little spot in the backyard, too! I find comfort in cuddling with and carrying soft toys around the house. I am good with body handling but get nervous and bark when I hear loud noises. I am learning how to walk on a leash. I am currently living with 2 DC SIR alums and another foster! You can follow my story to learn more about me. I am looking forward to meeting my forever family and enjoying a happy life!
