Hi everyone! My name is now Bondi, and I am named after a beach in Australia. I am a 1.8-year-old female Shiba Inu! I was rescued with 20 other Shibas from a breeder facility, and DC SIR plans to help 40 more Shibas that were left behind after they finished paying for all our vetting. I had a long drive to Shiba HQ, which lasted all night. We arrived soon after the sun came up. When I was carried to the yard, I was immediately so happy that I squinted my eyes, flattened my ears, and shook my tail to show how happy I was to be in the big yard, running free with all my friends. I wasn’t too fearful of my foster mom – maybe because I heard her TALKING THE WHOLE DRIVE back to Shiba HQ, and she also said how much love and attention we will get until we get adopted into the best furever homes for us. I can be a little shy when guests come over, and I will stay closer to my foster family, but they think I can become more confident with time. I do love to cuddle on the couch next to my foster mom. If new things scare me, I will run to her and try to crawl into her lap for safety. I would like a home where I can cuddle on the couch and have a lot of toys. I learned to use the doggie door quickly, and I haven’t had any accidents in my xpen. I don’t know how to walk on a leash yet, but I can learn with patience and time. I don’t bark much, but my foster mom noticed that when my silly pen mates bark, I may join in; otherwise, I typically don’t initiate random barking. I do really well with friendly dogs and the resident cats, and I love my foster family. I am great with body handling with people I trust. I am so excited to live in a home with a family who loves me for the rest of my life. Thank you for looking at my story.
