Hi everyone! My name is now Brela. We are all being given beach-themed names, and my foster parents thought this name suited me perfectly. Brela is a beautiful beach in Croatia, just as beautiful as me! I’m a 4-year-old female and one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave of rescues. It was a long ride, and I wasn’t sure what was happening. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, we went into the backyard, where there was so much more space for me to run free. I was thrilled! A few days later, my foster family came to pick me and my foster brother up. I was a perfect little angel during the ride home. I was scared, but I rested my head on my foster mom’s lap the entire time. When I arrived at my new home, I ran around exploring. I’m a little more timid than my foster brother, so I like to follow his lead. We went for our first walk, but the leash was new and scary. I allowed them to clip it onto my harness, and I’m getting used to it! Back home, I enjoyed my first meal, but I take my time eating. When I was ready to relax, I curled up in the dog bed and was happy lounging there. I slept really well my first night. I’m comfortable with everyone at home, and they say I’m a very sweet, timid girl. I have a playful side and LOVE toys! I enjoy pets and wag my tail to let them know to keep going. I’ll need time to come out of my shell, but I’ll get there. I’m excited about my new life ahead of me. Will it be with you?
