Chestnut is an 8 year old female red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.
Hi everyone! My name is Chestnut, but you can call me Chessie, and I’m a sweet 8-year-old red female Shiba Inu from the second wave of 20 Shibas rescued as part of the #60ShibasRescue! Our group was given tree-themed names, and I was named after the chestnut tree, a beautiful tree known for its delicious chestnuts. All 20 of us were transported together to Shiba HQ, where we stayed for a couple of days while everyone got settled. Then my foster family came to pick me up and bring me to my new home. I was anxious at first and spent the beginning of the ride looking for a comfortable spot, but eventually I decided my foster’s lap was perfect and settled in for a nap. When I arrived at my foster home, I was nervous getting out of the car, but I wagged my tail and went over to meet Nugget, the senior resident Shiba. Once inside, I was curious about the things around me. I’m a sweet girl who loves being around people. I may need time to warm up, but once I’m comfortable, I’m happy to accept pets and scratches. I especially LOVE sitting in laps! I even started pacing until my foster picked me up and let me settle in their lap. I’m doing well with leash walking and seem to have previous experience. New things can still startle me, so familiar walks help me feel confident. I slept wonderfully on my first night and settled into bed with Nugget. I’m looking for a patient family who will give me time to feel safe and confident. I may be cautious at first, but once I trust you, I’m ready to curl up in your lap and enjoy being close to my people. I’m hoping my forever home is where I can relax and let my sweet personality shine!
