Hi everyone. My name is now Cooper. I’m a 3-year-old male, and I’m named after the coolest beach in New York for one cool dog like me! I’m one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Some wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave of rescues. We arrived at Shiba HQ, but I was only there for a few days before my foster mom and brother came to pick me up. She actually picked up four of us! On the ride home, I was a little anxious and did some panting, but after a while, I settled in and fell asleep for the rest of the ride. When we arrived at the house, I was super excited to explore everything! I was free to roam around the backyard, but I didn’t stray too far from my foster mom. I guess I wanted to make sure she stayed close by. I already love to play! I even know how to bring the ball back after my foster mom throws it. I’m also a big fan of treats. I want them all, but I’m gentle when I gobble them right out of your hand. Once we went inside, we had our first meal. Honestly, I wasn’t too hungry. It had been a very eventful day, and I just didn’t have much of an appetite. But the next day was a different story! I gobbled my food right up. It was pretty delicious! I get to sleep in the kitchen area with all the comfy beds and my foster sisters. I settled down pretty well and tried my best to get a good night’s rest. My foster mom says I’m a very handsome guy who stares deeply into your soul. I think I just really want to connect with you. I’m enjoying my new life and learning so much each day. I hope I find my new furever home soon!
