Hi everyone. My name is now Cooya, named after a really cool beach on the Great Barrier Reef. Don’t go swimming though… there are too many crocodiles! I’m a 2-year-old female, and I’m one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Some wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave of rescues. We arrived at Shiba HQ, but I was only there for a few days before my foster mom and brother came to pick me up. She actually picked up four of us! When I got in the car, I was curious and a little anxious. But I was able to settle down and fall asleep for most of the ride home. When I got home, I was super excited to explore everything once I was free to roam around the backyard. I never strayed too far away from everyone, though. When it was dinner time, I didn’t hesitate and ate every bit of my food. I also happily ate every treat I was given! When it was time for bed, I slept in the kitchen area with a bunch of comfy beds and my foster brother and sisters. I barked a little at first because I just wasn’t sure about this new place, but I settled down and slept through the night. I really like my young human brother and love giving him kisses. I also saw the resident cat, and I wasn’t fazed by her at all. She did her thing, and I did mine. My foster mom says I’m so stinking cute! I love kisses and all the pets. I come when called, in my own time, of course. I also love being the center of attention. I’m just learning about toys, so I haven’t really played with them yet. Now I just need to find the perfect forever home where I can keep being my adorable self!
