Douglas is a 3 year old female red Shiba Inu. View his Facebook Album.

Hi everyone! My name is Douglas, but my foster family calls me Dougie! I’m a happy 3 year old red male Shiba Inu from the second wave of 20 Shibas rescued as part of the #60ShibasRescue. Our group was given tree-themed names, and I was named after the Douglas fir, a beautiful and majestic evergreen found throughout the Sierra Nevada and other parts of the western United States. All 20 of us were transported together to Shiba HQ, with DC SIR volunteers making the long journey to bring us to safety. A day after we arrived at Shiba HQ, my foster family picked me up and brought me home. I was pretty anxious during the ride and spent most of the time cuddled up in my foster’s lap. When I arrived at my new home, I instantly loved the backyard! I love being outside and running around, and I’ve already discovered that I’m quite the goofy guy. I even enjoy playing fetch, but sometimes I mostly play fetch with myself! When I’m not running around, you might find me showing off my impressive sploot. I’m very friendly with people and love attention. I’m happy to receive cuddles, belly rubs, and even the occasional kiss. I’m still learning about leash walking. I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to do yet, so walks are definitely a work in progress. Luckily, I’m a curious guy who is enjoying discovering all these new things. I love attention, exploring, running, and having fun. I’m ready to find my forever home. I’m taking everything in stride and enjoying my new life. I hope my next adventure leads me to a family who will enjoy my silly personality and give me plenty of opportunities to explore and play!
