Fenik is a 10 year old, male Shiba Inu. View his Facebook Album.

Hi everyone, my name is now Fenik, which is the Japanese version of Phoenix. I am a ten-year-old Shiba Inu who lost the only home I had ever known when my owners lost their home. While they were able to stay with family, they weren’t allowed to bring me with them. Thankfully, they reached out to DC SIR so I could go straight into a loving foster home and not deal with the fear of going into a shelter. It took all day to get to Shiba HQ, and very generous volunteers took time from their holiday to drive me there. When I arrived, I got to explore the yard on my own. DC SIR was told I am great with dogs, cats, and people, and I have no medical issues. I was nervous when I arrived at Shiba HQ, but I did great meeting all the dogs, cats, and kittens there! My fur was tufting out and greasy, so my foster mom gave me a bath before getting comfortable inside. I did wonderfully in the bath, was easily brushed, and got a nail trim too! Once I was clean, I did some zoomies outside, but since I am so shy, I went and hid under the bed. My foster mom brought me outside for potty breaks, and I really enjoy sniffing around the yard, so my tail comes up when I explore outdoors. Indoors, I am still pretty scared, and you can find me shaking in a corner or under a bed. DC SIR says this is normal for older dogs who lose the only home they have ever known. I need love and patience to help me gain confidence in the new environment I find myself in. DC SIR says I am an all-around perfect pup for a variety of home environments! Think I am a good fit for your family?
