Harley is an 8 week old, male Shiba Inu. See his Facebook album!
Hi everyone, my name is now Harley, named by the daughter who helped transport me in the NC drive to Shiba HQ. I am an 8-week-old male black and tan Shiba Inu. I was surrendered to a shelter after my owners released me because of all the skin issues I was having and losing so much fur. The shelter believed I could have flea dermatitis and treated me for that, and then contacted DC SIR. They said right away that they would squeeze me in to get me on their program so that there wouldn’t be too much damage to my microbiome during my critical developmental period. Thankfully, the shelter and three amazing DC SIR volunteers spent all day driving so I could get to Shiba HQ for my care and treatment. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. The grass felt weird to me! I didn’t like it, so I immediately tried to get off the grass and jumped on a lounge chair. When I began to meet the other Shibas, I barked at them and grabbed their tails. I have to learn some manners with other dogs and cats, and that they aren’t toys for me to play with. After I settled in, I got a bath and began my red light therapy for my skin, along with a lot of healthy, fresh food to support my gut microbiome. I screamed my first night being in my pen area, but now I am fine when I get a time out or naps and play with my toys! DC SIR would like me to go to a home that will continue my holistic care (low chemical impact, nutrient-dense raw food, minimal vaccine schedule) – Could this be you?
