Hi everyone, my name is now Tropicana, and I am a small 4-year-old red female Shiba Inu. I was brought into the shelter as a stray. The shelter contacted DC SIR and told them that I am a complete sweetheart! They told DC SIR I did great with cats and dogs, and when I felt brave enough, I jumped up on the volunteer's lap for pets and comfort. DC SIR quickly found an alum to drive through pretty bad weather and take me all the way to Shiba HQ. I arrived during a thunderstorm in the evening, so I just had a quick potty then went to my private recovery area from my spay earlier in the day. In the morning, I was fitted for a smaller cone, and I got to meet all the dogs and cats at Shiba HQ. There wasn’t one growl! I did great with everyone I met. I am a bit skittish with people and scurry under tables and couches, but as I settle in, I have started to follow my foster mom around the house. I also learned the dog door in just a couple of days (after my cone came off my head!) I enjoy exploring the yard and going on sniffari! I have a straight tail, which is called a sickle tail! I spent my first couple of days going into an open crate to get some rest. But soon the resident cat took my favorite spot in the crate, so I started sleeping under my foster mom’s work desk. I like to be near her because she gives me boiled chicken and all the other dogs trust her. DC SIR thinks I am a very sweet and well-adjusted Shiba with some mild fear issues. I have only been in rescue a few days, and I get along with all the dogs. They said there will be 20 Shibas arriving at Shiba HQ by the end of the week, then heading off to their foster homes, so I will meet a lot more Shibas! I am fully vetted and ready for my real furever family – could it be you?
