My name is Hinoki, and I’m a high-energy 1-year-old red female Shiba Inu from the second wave of 20 Shibas rescued as part of the #60ShibasRescue! Our group was given tree-themed names, and I was named after the Japanese cypress, an evergreen tree in Japan known for its beautiful, fragrant wood. All 20 of us were transported together to Shiba HQ, with DC SIR volunteers making the long journey to bring us to safety. It was an adventure, but I was ready to explore my new surroundings when I arrived! I LOVE other dogs and have never met a dog I didn’t want to kiss! I’m always giving kisses to everyone’s faces, whether they asked for them or not. Some of the grown-up dogs have been gently teaching me that not everyone wants nonstop kisses, so I’m learning my doggy manners and figuring out when to give my friends a little space. I’ve also done great with cats, so I’m happy to have both canine and feline friends around. I’m still working on my leash skills, but I love engaging with people and am eager to learn. Now, let’s talk about my favorite things: FOOD and squeaky toys! I could happily spend hours enjoying either one. I’m not a big fan of being crated, but I do well in an x-pen and settle down quickly. I have lots of energy, plenty of affection to give, and a whole lot of personality packed into this Shiba body! I’m still learning about companion life, and I’m having fun! I’m looking for a family who will keep me busy, help me learn my manners, and appreciate my enthusiastic kisses, playful spirit, and love of life. I can’t wait to find my forever home and show you just how much fun a Shiba like me can be!
