Knokke is a 5 year old female red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.
Hi everyone! My name is now Knokke, and I am named after a beach in Belgium that my foster family used to visit often. I am a 5-year-old female Shiba Inu weighing only 17lbs. I was rescued from a breeding facility with 20 other Shibas and the first wave of 60 Shibas! While I was getting my vetting there, the vet called DC SIR to tell them I tested positive for heartworms. Fortunately, I don’t have any major symptoms, but DC SIR will need to start my treatment right away. That means I will be staying at Shiba HQ for my treatment, but that is ok because I am having so much fun there! When I arrived at Shiba HQ, they put a harness on me to identify us
while we ran around and explored the yard. I kind of froze because I wasn’t used to wearing one. That was just the first day, and I don’t mind it at all anymore. I was a bit growly with all the dogs when we were in a big group, but my foster mom showed me that I was safe, and she rewarded me for moving away from dogs I didn’t want to be around. I am doing so well now. I get along with the dogs and cats, and I love people. I really just want you to pick me up, hold me in your arms, and tell me that everything will be okay. My foster mom gave me my own roomy crate to go into when I want to get away from the dogs, but I often like to follow my foster mom and sit near her. I haven’t had any accidents in the house, and I learned how to use the dog door very quickly. I love meeting new people who visit, and DC SIR thinks I could do well in a variety of homes. I would like a family who makes me boiled chicken though, because I really love that. If you think you have the right home for me, you can apply at www.dcsir.org/adopt
