Hello, my name is now Kota (Kanji 光太 meaning great light). I’m a 1.5-year-old Shiba Inu and have only ever lived in one home after leaving the breeder. Unfortunately, my mom lost her job and had a difficult time caring for me. I am also a very high-energy Shiba, and my mom didn’t have the time to meet my energy level. DC SIR scheduled my neuter and vetting the same day as my intake. So they have a little bit of info they can tell you about me before living in my cone lol! I met the volunteer and another rescue, Ryoshi, who was scheduled for a early morning spay, and I did bark and lunge, but once we were able to meet, I was good with the other dog and the volunteer. We had a long drive from the vet, and I cried a lot because I didn’t know what was going on, my new foster mom tried to comfort me with pets and told me what a good boy I am. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to potty outside and meet the other Shibas. I did really well with the other dogs, but soon was put in a private room to eat, drink, and sleep. I didn’t have any accidents and slept through the night. I did cry at the doors trying to find my family, but my foster mom comforted me through the adjustment. I do try to lick at my stitches, so my foster mom is keeping my cone on for a bit. I do seem to chase the cats, but if they bop me on the head, and I back off. DC SIR will let you know more about me as I settle in and my cone comes off. So far, they can tell you I bonded with my foster mom very quickly, and I follow her around and jump up for pets. DC SIR thinks I will do best with an active family who would love to play fetch and go for long walks or jogs. I am fully vetted, so I will be ready for my meet and greets by the weekend! Think you can be my forever home? Apply to adopt me at www.dcsir.org/adopt.
