Lewes is a 2 year old male red Shiba Inu. View his Facebook Album.

Hi everyone! My name is now Lewes. A lot of fans recommended this Delaware beach name, so we thought it would be fun! I’m a 2-year-old male and one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Some wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, I went into the backyard and explored for a while. It felt so good to get out of my crate and stretch my legs! A few days later, my foster parents picked me up. I was happy to get into the car with them. I was calm and laid in the dog bed in the backseat, but eventually I decided I wanted to climb onto my foster mom’s lap. Once I got comfortable, I fell asleep! When I arrived at my new home, we went straight for a walk with my foster fursister. We hit it off quickly and were very interested in each other. During our walk, another dog started barking at us. I noticed my fursister wasn’t reacting, so I decided there was no reason for me to react either. Now, birds and squirrels are a different story. I definitely like to chase them. We even saw a fox, and I really wanted to run after it. My foster parents are learning that I have plenty of energy and a curious side. That night, I slept in my foster parents’ bed and slept through the entire night. I guess I knew I was safe and could finally relax. My foster parents say I’m extremely affectionate, very smart, and crave companionship and physical contact. I also have lots of energy and sometimes get the zoomies right inside the house. And, of course, I LOVE toys. I’m loving this new chapter of my life. I can’t wait to find my forever family!
