Hi everyone! My name is Maple, and I’m a sweet 7 year old female Shiba Inu from the second wave of 20 Shibas rescued as part of the #60ShibasRescue! Our group was given tree-themed names, and I was named after the Japanese maple, a beautiful tree known for its delicate leaves and gorgeous colors.All 20 of us were transported together to Shiba HQ, with DC SIR volunteers making the long journey to bring us to safety. A day after I got to Shiba HQ, my foster family picked me up and brought me home. I was pretty anxious at first, but after I settled in, I curled up and fell asleep in my car seat. When I arrived, I was excited to explore the backyard. But even with all those new smells and things to investigate, I had one thing on my mind: PETS! I’m a friendly girl, and I love attention from people. I’ll happily roll over for belly rubs, snuggle close, and sneak in a kiss whenever I can. I’m still learning about this whole leash-walking thing. In fact, when someone puts a leash on me, I have a tendency to flatten myself out like a pancake! I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it with some patience and practice. I’ve been doing well with the boys here and seem especially comfortable around male dogs. I think I might be happiest as your one-and-only girl or with a friendly boy. I’m also starting to discover the fun of toys and zoomies in the yard. I definitely know what I like, and I’m just a sweet girl who wants love, cuddles, and a home. I’m ready to find my forever family and give them plenty of kisses!
