Mimi is a 2 year old female, black and tan Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.
Mimi is the mother of Gigi and a beautiful 2-year-old Shiba Inu looking for a patient and understanding home.
When Mimi first arrived, part of her harness had come undone, and it took foster mom more than 45 minutes to carefully clip it back on. We were warned never to let her off leash because we would never catch her. With that in mind, we left a leash attached while teaching recall in the yard and the cue “go to bed” for her crate. Within just a few days, Mimi had learned both! Once she understood the routine, the leash came off—just in time, too, as the puppies had decided it made a wonderful tug toy.
Mimi doesn’t trust humans easily, but with kindness, patience, and an understanding of canine body language, this sweet girl continues to blossom. She has already made tremendous progress and now seeks out foster mom for pets and affection. We are currently working on helping her become comfortable with being picked up.
Mimi does wonderfully with puppies, cats, and male dogs. We believe she would thrive in a home with a friendly male canine companion or with a family that has the time and patience to help a fearful dog continue building confidence.
Because of her fearfulness, Mimi will require a secure fenced yard.
We are working on scheduling her spay as soon as possible.
