Prim is an 8 old female cream Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone, my name is now Prim, like the flower, Primrose. I am estimated to be an 8-year-old, cream female Shiba Inu. I have lived my whole life in a puppy mill, being bred to sell my puppies. I haven’t known life with a gentle touch, a soft bed, and nutritious food or the love of humans. I have a really old injury on my front leg that is likely arthritic, and DC SIR thinks my tail was cut off at some point. My old bones ache, but I so enjoy sleeping in my round, cozy bed. I was pulled by another rescue that is working with DC SIR. They were able to schedule my medical in PA almost immediately, whereas DC area has a 3–4–month waitlist. So I had my dental, X-rays, & spay completed before coming to DC SIR. The wonderful volunteers drove 12 hrs to ensure we got to Shiba HQ in one trip. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, it started pouring – we were quickly let out to potty in the backyard. This is when my foster mom noticed how bad my limp was. She carried me into the house, where my cozy room awaited. I got to snack on some yummy boiled chicken as we waited for the rain to pass. She carried me down the stairs when the rain cleared, and I got to explore the yard and meet all the other rescues at Shiba HQ. I also met cats and saw chickens, and nothing bothered me. I was just happy to feel safe. I love to play with the young dogs at Shiba HQ, and I have no issues going up and down the deck stairs! I even love to greet guests who visit! DC SIR said they will have a lot of support to help me feel better, from red light therapy to joint supplements that will go with me to whoever opens their home to me. I am so thankful that I can finally live my life away from pain and fear. Thank you to everyone who helped save me!
