Hi everyone, my name is Willow, and I’m a 6-year-old female Shiba Inu. I was recently rescued from an Ohio puppy mill along with another foster dog named Milo. Even though we came from the same place, we are not bonded. After leaving the mill, I traveled all the way to Maryland. A DC SIR volunteer met me in Pittsburgh and drove me the rest of the way. I did well on the ride. I panted a little at first but soon relaxed enough to lie down calmly. When I arrived, I got a much-needed bath. I let the volunteers wash me and even trim my nails without making a sound. I was a bit stressed from such a long day, but I handled it well. Soon after, my foster mom came to pick me up and take me to her home. That’s when I met her young son, their two dogs, and their cat. I did well with everyone and explored my new surroundings with a mix of curiosity, excitement, and nervousness. I also went on my very first walk, which went really great. I pull just a little bit, but nothing too difficult. I don’t mind wearing a harness and let them put it on and take it off easily. My foster home has a doggie door, and I figured out how to use it right away. Now I go in and out whenever I need to. Dinner time was one of my favorite parts. I happily ate my first meal and have been enjoying the yummy treats they give me too. At bedtime, I curled up in a cozy dog bed in the kitchen and went right to sleep without a peep. My foster mom says I’m quiet, sweet, and gentle. I don’t mind being touched and even rolled over to show her my belly. I’m still a little unsure about toys, but I’m curious. If you think your home is a good fit for me, please consider applying to adopt me.
