Winnie is a female, red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.
Hi everyone, my name is now Winnie, meaning ‘gentle friend! I am an 10-year-old retired show dog. I found myself in a rescue at no fault of my own. After my adoptive family had children, they didn’t have time for another male Shiba and me, so we ended up spending our days in a crate and only came out when our dad came home from work. While I was not aggressive to the children, my family was concerned that we were less tolerant of the toddlers grabbing us. Since the breeder is retired, DC SIR happily welcomed us! So let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a small Shiba at just 17lbs. I rode well in the car to Shiba HQ. When I arrived at the 20-acre homestead, I saw chickens and cats, but I didn’t chase anyone. I walk beautifully on leash and greet strangers with the elegance and quiet confidence so characteristic of a Shiba Inu. When I met the other Shibas, there wasn’t a single growl! I got along with every dog and cat I met. DC SIR thinks I am such a sweet and gentle Shiba! I am also really good at body handling, from brushing to massage. I love to receive gentle pets and will come to you for affection. My fur is a bit dry, so I am on a high-quality Omega supplement that I eat with my absolute favorite organic boiled chicken. I love my new food so much and wait patiently in the kitchen while foster moms make all the delicious, nutritious meals. DC SIR thinks I will make a beautiful addition to a loving family who will give me a true forever home. They say I am sweet and gentle, and I can live in a variety of homes. But most importantly, I need to be loved and doted on for the rest of my life. I promise to bring your family so much love and joy! Follow my story if you are interested in adopting me!
