Hi everyone. My new name is Ytri (pronounced ee-tree). Ytri is a beach in Iceland, and it’s a cute, mischievous-sounding name, just like me! I’m a 4-year-old male and one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Some wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, we went into the backyard where I got to run free! A few days later, my foster family drove 4 hours to pick me and my foster sibling up. Wow, they are special to drive that far just for me! I was okay during the ride. I drooled a lot, but mostly I snuggled with my new human and fell asleep. When I got home, I was excited and curious. I ran around the apartment with my foster sister. When it was time for a walk, I realized I wasn’t used to leash walking. I tried my best! I’m good at going where I want to go, but I don’t really understand being led. Unlike my foster sister, I’m not scared of the leash itself, but I’ll need some practice. My first meal was delicious! I gobbled it all up. When it was time to sleep, I went into the bedroom and slept in my dog bed. I really want to sleep in the big bed, but I have to wait until I get a bath because, I’ll admit, I’m a little stinky! I couldn’t sleep too well and paced most of the night. It has been a very eventful week with lots of change. I get along well with everyone and love being around people. My foster parents say I’m a sweet, goofy guy. I’m energetic, playful, and super smart. I’ve already defeated one of the gates. Will I defeat yours?
