Hi everyone, my name is now Zaki, which means “pure” in Japanese. I am a happy 3-year-old male Shiba Inu and weigh 30 lbs. I was surrendered to a shelter because my family could no longer afford me. I had issues with my paw, which was tested for fungus and other issues, including a biopsy, which DC SIR will get the results of next week. However, the fur has grown back, and I don’t have any notable issues. Before the shelter, I loved my family very much and lived with children under 10 years old. While the shelter took great care of me, I was so happy to live in a home again. A DC SIR volunteer took the day off to drive me to Shiba HQ! She said I rode well in the car, and when I finally arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard and hang out in the boarding building until my foster mom could oversee integration. I got to meet DC SIR alum Dahlia and Katniss first. It was obvious to my foster mom that I love the ladies – of course, I was just neutered last week, so I was marking everything outside! I was very excited to meet so many dogs, and when I was comfortable, I played with the friendly dogs and avoided the grumpy dogs. I do chase the cats in the house, but they are so fast, that I can’t catch them. I also went a little crazy when I saw chickens! They were begging me to chase them, but I couldn’t reach them through the fence. I know a lot of tricks from sitting to down and I can speak too! DC SIR thinks I would do great in an active home with other dogs. I am expected to be cleared medically for adoption in the next week!
