Zen is a female, red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone, my name is now Zen! I am a female Shiba born on December 28, 2025, in a PA puppy mill. My brother and I were going to be euthanized because we were not cleared to be shipped for sale. They thought my brother was blind, and I have a small hernia, which the vet says can close on its own or can be addressed when I am older and get spayed. Luckily, the place surrendered us to an all-breed rescue that quickly contacted DC SIR. The following day, we were on an all-day transport to Shiba HQ thanks to a DC SIR volunteer! When we arrived at Shiba HQ, everyone could see I could take treats and toys away from my brother because he couldn’t see as well as I. But I still love him, and I love to snuggle up next to him when we take our naps. I had a vet appointment shortly after arriving at DC SIR, and they said my hernia is very small and that I am overall a healthy puppy! I love playing with my Uncle Aureus, who always looks after me and my brother, Tao. I am very smart too! I learned the doggie door in one day and even learned how to escape my pen at night so I could run around and play with Aureus! DC SIR thinks I would do well with an active family that will provide exercise and mental stimulation. I would also thrive in a home with other friendly dogs who love to play, play, play. Sometimes, if no one wants to play with me, I will chase the resident cats. But they usually bop me on the head and climb away up the cat tree. I hope to find my pawfect forever home soon!
