Zushi is a 7 year old female red Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone. My name is Zushi. We are going with beach-themed names, and I’m named after a beach in Japan. I’m a 7-year-old female, and I’m one of nearly 60 Shibas being rescued from a breeder. Some wonderful DC SIR volunteers drove 24 hours nonstop to bring me and 19 other Shibas to safety in this first wave of rescues. We arrived at Shiba HQ, but I was only there for a few days before I was picked up and taken to my new foster home. I was relaxed during the ride home. Once we arrived, I was really excited! I explored and checked out all the different areas. There is another Shiba in the house, too. We were both pretty chill and spent some time sniffing each other. Then it was time for my first walk. I did pretty well! We went around the block, and I got to sniff lots of new things. I was very curious about my new neighborhood and there was so much to see. When we went inside, I got my first raw meal. It was delicious, and I ate it all! I love my meals so much that sometimes I eye my foster sister’s food bowl. But I would not dare eat it. That wouldn’t be very nice. When it was time for bed, I decided to sleep under a desk, and then I moved to the futon. I slept all night. I was exhausted. My foster parents say I seem very timid and laid-back. I enjoy being petted and will lean toward you if you stop, asking for more. I’m still learning about my new world, but I’m already discovering that people can be kind and loving. I’m taking things at my own pace and enjoying all the new experiences along the way. I just want all the love you can give me. I hope there’s a lot of love in my future and happy days ahead.
