Shio is a female, cream Shiba Inu. View her Facebook Album.

Hi everyone, my name is now Shio! I am a 2-year-old cream female Shiba Inu. I was surrendered to a southern VA shelter with my sister. We were so scared to be in the shelter, and I lost weight because I couldn’t even eat. Thankfully, the shelter found DC SIR, and they scheduled a transport to Shiba HQ within the week. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I previously lived with my sister and cats. The shelter noted I was very skittish and did not know how to walk on a leash. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard with my sister. We were so happy to run free on the grass. Soon, we met all the dogs and cats at Shiba HQ, and we didn’t growl at at anyone. I am head shy and wouldn’t l let my foster family pet me. But I watched all the other dogs go up to them for treats and pets. She gave me yummy boiled chicken, so I came closer. Soon I was nuzzling up for pets, but I don’t like anyone I don’t know reaching for me or picking me up! IT scares me, and you may hear my Shiba Cream if you surprise me! I learned the dog door by following my braver sister. I haven’t had any accidents at all! My foster family noticed we do not like to be contained at all. We were put in a gated area in the front room, and we both cried. Since we did so well with everyone, we got to roam free in the house. We were absolutely perfect – no accidents – no destructions – BUT if you get up in the middle of the night, we will sound the alarm and bark until you go back to bed haha. DC SIR says they will let you know more about our barking – we do bark at all guests, but we love to greet men and will jump and give kisses. We are happy, healthy Shibas who would love to stay together in a true furever home!
